Linda Ann Wells was a judge on the Florida Third District Court of Appeal. She was appointed by Republican Governor Jeb Bush in 2003 and was retained by voters on November 2, 2004, on November 2, 2010, and again on November 8, 2016.[1][2][3] [4]
Wells served as the Third District's first female chief judge from 2011-2013.[1]
Judge Wells announced in February 2017 that she would retire on March 31, 2017.[5] Her final term would have expired in 2023.
Education
Wells earned her bachelor's degree in medical technology from University of Florida in 1969. She received her J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 1977.[1]
Career
After law school, Wells joined the law firm of Fine, Jacobson. In 1994 she became an equity partner of the firm Holland & Knight. In 1996, she joined the firm Russo, Wells & Associates. She later became chief district legal counsel for the Florida Department of Children & Families, District 11. She held this position until her appointment to the court of appeal in 2003.[1]
