Linda Degman
Linda Degman was a member of the Beaverton School District school board in Oregon, representing Zone 7. Degman assumed office on February 21, 2012. Degman left office in 2017.
Degman ran for re-election to the Beaverton School District school board to represent Zone 7 in Oregon. Degman won in the general election on May 19, 2015.
Degman was first appointed to the seat on February 21, 2012, following Lisa Shultz's resignation in November 2011. In 2013, she won an election to serve out the remaining two years of Shultz's term. She won re-election to a full four-year term on May 19, 2015.
Compared to the last two election cycles in the district, Degman ran in an overall more competitive election field in 2015. An average of 2.33 candidates filed for each seat up for election, but just two filed for the Zone 7 seat, including Degman. While competitiveness for the district's races was up overall, Degman actually faced more challengers in the 2013 special election.
Over five years after the first proposal was made, it appeared a land swap between Beaverton School District and neighboring Hillsboro School District might finally move forward. While there was vocal debate in Hillsboro, which was the point of instigation for the proposed district changes, Beaverton had not responded to calls to meet and discuss the change as of late April 2015.
Biography
Degman attended Portland Community College. She earned a bachelor's degree in social sciences and an master's degree in public administration from Portland State University. Degman's career experience includes working as the director of the bond program for Portland Community College.[1]
