Voters initiated an effort to recall Precinct 5 City Councilmember Linda LaNoue in March 2022 in Albion, Michigan.[1] The effort ended after LaNoue announced her resignation effective May 2022.[2]
Recall supporters
Resident Trajan Dubiel filed a recall petition on March 10, 2022. The proposed petition language read, "Councilmember LaNoue voted in the affirmative for the Albion College President's vision for the City of Albion while employed by Albion College."[1]

The Calhoun County Election Commission determined in a clarity hearing on March 21, 2022, that the recall petition was sufficiently clear and factual for the recall process to proceed.[1][3]
To force a special recall election to have been scheduled, organizers needed to collect around 142 signatures, which represented 25% of the votes cast for governor in LaNoue's district during the previous gubernatorial election.[1]
