An effort in Diamond City, Arkansas, to recall Mayor Linda Miracle was initiated in July 2020. Recall organizers gathered enough signatures to put the recall on the ballot. The recall election was held on November 3, 2020. Miracle was removed from office as a result of the recall vote.[1]
Recall supporters
The recall effort was organized in response to disagreements between the mayor and city council over the scheduling of city council meetings. In April 2020, Miracle canceled four city council meetings. It was reported that beginning with the city council meeting on June 25, 2020, Miracle and other council members stopped showing up to scheduled city council meetings. Critics of the mayor accused her of attempting to prevent any action from being taken by the city council. During a city council meeting in July 2020, City Recorder Tina Jackson stood in as mayor while the city council voted to fill an empty seat and to override vetoes issued by Miracle.[2]
