Linda Springer is a former director of the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Springer was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[1]
Career
Springer graduated from Ursinus College in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She later attended the Executive Program in Managing the Enterprise at Columbia University Business School.[2]
Springer began her financial services career as a management consultant at Coopers and Lybrand, an accounting firm that merged with Price Waterhouse in 1998 to become PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). She later worked as a senior vice president and controller at Provident Mutual as well as a vice president and product manager at Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company.[2][3][4]
After 25 years in the financial services industry, Springer transitioned to the public sector as the controller for the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). She went on to serve as the controller and head of the White House Office of Federal Financial Management. In 2005, Springer transitioned to the role of director of the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM), where she served until 2008 under former President George W. Bush (R).[1][2][4]
Following her tenure in public service, Springer worked as the executive director of the government and public sector advisory services practice at Ernst and Young. She became a fellow with the National Academy of Public Administration in 2006.[4]
Donald Trump presidential transition team, 2016-2017
Springer was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team in his first presidential term. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. Springer served as an advisor on the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for the transition team alongside Paul Winfree.[1]
Springer endorsed Trump during his presidential campaign in June 2016. "I am delighted to offer my endorsement of Donald Trump for President," said Springer. "He is a proven leader with the strength and determination essential to address the critical challenges our country is facing."[5]
Trump described Springer as "a leader in federal government management issues." He responded to her endorsement by stating that Springer "understands the need for an effective government that serves its constituents – the citizens of our country. I welcome her input to our team."[5]
