I am an educator, city councilmember, community leader, and a mom raising fourth-generation Kansans. With 16 years of education experience, I currently serve families in the Shawnee Mission School District as a leader in the areas of science and engineering instruction, mentorship, and teacher professional development. I am dedicated to creating a brighter future for all Kansans.

I earned Master's degrees from the University of Kansas in Curriculum and Instruction as well as Education, Leadership and Policy Studies. I was elected to the Shawnee City Council in 2017. My priorities have included smart, future-focused development, advocating for energy efficiency and renewable energy, and promoting community health through enhancements in walkability and support for parks. I am also the co-founder of Climate Action KC, whose mission is to create a more climate resilient region.

I am married and have two young children who, together with the students I've taught over the years, serve as my key motivators to make a difference as a local leader.
  • Experience: An award-winning Shawnee Mission teacher, city councilmember, and president of a non-profit dedicated to regional resilience, Lindsey knows what it takes to get results for Kansas families.
  • Leadership: Lindsey is a common-sense coalition builder with a consistent history of crafting policies that benefit our economy and community - earning her the respect of leaders across our region.
  • Courage: Lindsey will advocate for practical solutions to benefit all Kansans and will stand up to extremist legislators and special interest groups in Topeka.
As a teacher, mother, and community leader, I'm passionate about policies that will make life better for Kansans. To that end, one of my top priorities is expanding Medicaid in order to provide as many as 150,000 Kansans with access to healthcare, keep local hospitals and clinics open, and maintain and create essential jobs across the state. Kansas taxpayer dollars belong right here at the benefit of hardworking Kansans. A healthier, more productive workforce helps our state economy grow.

Education funding is another key priority of mine. Only recently have our K-12 schools been given a path toward becoming adequately funded, and as we're recovering from the economic consequences of COVID, I do not want our state to move backwards in our commitment to funding schools. Kansas kids, families, and businesses deserve better, and as state Senator I will make education funding a priority.

As a practical and responsible leader, I will work to stabilize the budget, easing the burden on taxpayers by prioritizing policies that help everyday working Kansans. To strengthen our economy during these uncertain times, we must continue to prioritize investments in education, infrastructure, healthcare, renewable energy, and bioscience. These sectors create good-paying jobs for the workers of today and tomorrow.
Elected officials should be collaborative, commonsense, and compassionate.
I'm a problem solver, an active listener, and I'm determined to create a brighter future for Kansas kids.
My first high school job was as a server at Tippins where I worked during my junior and senior year. My favorite type of pie was and still is french silk! My first job out of college was as an outdoor science teacher in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
Our state's greatest challenges are going to be balancing the budget, improving our economy, and creating good, lasting jobs for working Kansans. After eight years of a failed tax experiment, Kansas is finally on a path to recovery, but the challenges we've been facing have been exacerbated by this public health and economic crisis. We need strong leadership that will prioritize smart investments in our state and won't play partisan games with our lives and livelihoods.
Absolutely. Just as we work together in our families, workplaces, and communities to solve problems, legislators must approach governing collaboratively in order to pass good public policy that improves Kansans' lives. This has been my approach on the Shawnee city council, as President of Climate Action KC, and it will be my approach in the Senate. When leaders focus on shared values and work to find common ground, we can better find solutions and opportunities to challenges facing our state.
I favor a fair, unbiased redistricting system where legislators cannot choose their voters. I believe this is best done by using an independent commission or staff, to ensure that politics don't play a part in shaping our system of democratic representation.
