Education is one of my top areas of focus. Improving quality access to education regardless of zip code. Offering multiple avenues for people, college track or trade track, is key to keeping everyone engaged in learning. Access to quality and affordable mental healthcare is my second priority. People with any need for care should not wait months to receive that care. For acute mental health needs, people should not have to drive hundreds of miles to find an open bed. Virginia can do better. Criminal Justice is my third priority, and ties into the other 2, quite honestly. There needs to be comprehensive reform across the commonwealth. Ending cash bail and mandatory minimum sentences coupled with the decriminalization of marijuana will go a long way to improving a system that dis-proportionally effects minorities and people of color.
I am passionate about the three core areas of my platform; education, access to healthcare, and criminal justice reform. All three of these areas are connected, from some of our earliest days to our last, and I have been fortunate to experience first hand, and to hear about success stories in each area, to know that widespread gains can be achieved. Comprehensive reform to each of these areas will improve the lives of millions of people - improve educational outcomes for all, improve wages earned over a lifetime, improve health and well being across generations, and minimize the impact the criminal justice system has in every neighborhood across the Commonwealth.
Honesty, an interest in working with people of all backgrounds, and a willingness and openness to represent everyone in your district.
I have worked in the public sector for almost my entire career and have seen how laws and policies directly impact people's ability to become their best selves. I have worked with individuals and families within systems that do not work for the working class. I bring resourcefulness and a 'don't quit until it is done' approach to all my work, and as Delegate in the 62nd District promise to comprehensively improve the education, healthcare, and criminal justice spheres in the Commonwealth.
Every single legislator has been elected to serve their constituency and to work to move the Commonwealth forward. Working together is the only way to get the work of our districts, done.
