  • I am committed to transparency, communication, and increasing community engagement. An engaged community is a safer, healthier community.
  • I don't want my tax dollars wasted and I doubt you do either, but I'm also a firm believer in making our city and our community one of the best places to live, work, and play. I believe in balancing those interests. There are times to spend, and times to save - I support fiscal responsibility and transparency.
  • We need to address the affordable housing crisis and our aging infrastructure and shopping centers - I support incremental redevelopment with mixed uses at a smaller scale within our communities - the shopping centers we visit and pass every day.
Transparency, communication, accountability, economic development, caring for our environment, community engagement, and balancing fiscal responsibility with maintaining attractive public amenities.
Garland's city council directly impacts the daily lives of residents through local laws and decision-making within the framework of higher levels of government. It represents the community to state and federal government, while maintaining local leadership under Home Rule.
I look up to Nelson Mandela for his commitment to justice and moral integrity.

I look up to Eleanor Roosevelt for her work in human rights, social justice, and women's rights.
I look up to Malala Yousafzai for her courage in the face of violence and her commitment to education and human rights.

I also look up to Jane Goodall as a representative of women in science, as well as a champion of ethical treatment of animals and environmental conservation.
Innovative thinking, integrity, dedication, responsiveness, accessibility, transparency, ethical leadership, and social awareness.
I am empathetic and ethical. I love finding solutions to problems at all levels. I am persistent and energetic.
In addition to legislative responsibilities and oversight, city council is responsible for community engagement and representation, public safety, planning and development, and advocacy.
The only legacy I would like to leave is to have left the world better than I found it.
I distinctly remember watching OJ Simpson's police chase (age 8) and news of Princess Diana's death the morning after it occurred (age 11). I was also vaguely aware of the Gulf War and the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 90s.
My very first job was at Petsmart in East Dallas; I worked there for approximately five years as a cashier and small pet and aquatics caretaker. I've always been a fans of pets of (almost) all kinds!
I love "A Wrinkle in Time" and its exploration of courage, love, and the importance of resisting darkness and conformity.
The Doctor, from Doctor Who, who uses their cleverness and creativity to find solutions invite injustice.
I struggled with alcohol abuse as a teen and young adult; I was fortunate to have found help at the right time and this summer, I will celebrate sixteen years sober.
I believe more people should be aware that the council appoints the City Manager, City Auditor, and City Attorney, setting the course for the city.
While previous experience in government or politics may be beneficial, I do not believe it is absolutely necessary to advocate for one's district and city. Council is advised on many issues by a well-educated and experienced staff.
Problem solving, ethical leadership, fiscal responsibility, networking, and social awareness.
City council is a unique position locally because it make city government more accessible to residents, and serves as an advocate for its constituents.
What vegetable is cool, but not THAT cool?
Radish.
Friends, neighbors, and community collaborators as listed on my website
Transparency and accountability are the foundations of trust in our government. They are absolutely necessary.
