Lindsey McKee is a judge of the 5th Judicial District in North Carolina. She was elected on November 4, 2014, defeating Kent Harrell by just five votes. She took office on January 1, 2015, for a term that expires on December 31, 2022.[1]

McKee ran for election to the 5th Judicial District.
General: She defeated Kent Harrell in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 50.004 percent of the vote. McKee, following a recount, was found to have defeated Harrell by just five votes.[1][2] 

Judicial performance evaluation

In July 2014, the North Carolina Bar Association released the results of a survey in which it asked lawyers to rate the judicial candidates for the trial courts. The candidates were rated from one to five on five different criteria as well as on their overall performance.[3]

Education

McKee received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her J.D. degree from the North Carolina Central University School of Law.[4]

Career

While in law school, McKee interned at David and Associates, PLLC. She then began her legal career as a prosecutor with the district attorney's office. As a prosecutor, she has also been assigned to the New Hanover County Drug Treatment Court. She prosecutes misdemeanors charged by the Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach Police Departments. She also works as an adjunct professor.[4]
