I am a lifelong Democrat whose main priority is preserving democracy as we know it. I've never heard the alarm bells go off as loud as they have over the past 8 yrs when trump rode down that golden escalator, and the start of the erosion of democracy as we know it began. They've been saying during every election since he took office that "this is the most important election of our lifetime"! I believe that to be true of all elections from now on going forward. We cannot afford to be complacent, and sit back without our voices being heard. If we let that happen, all rules and regulations will be made by those that we allowed in power through indifference, and that minority does not have the best interest of this magnificent country at heart. I believe with all my heart that we just can't let that happen- and by running for office, I'm doing what I can to ensure that democracy prevails, and that individual citizens' rights also prevail above big business and the wealthiest 1% of the population.
  • I am 100% pro-choice! I believe in a woman's right to choose. No one, especially the government, should have any say in what goes on with a woman's body or have any input into her health care decisions. All of a woman's health care decisions, including whether or not to have an abortion, should be between each individual woman and her doctor if she chooses to involve him/her.
  • I'm for expanding voters' rights. For too long (and especially in recent years), the GOP has sought to weaken voters' rights in an effort to suppress the vote. They will do anything to win; besides suppressing votes, they blatantly gerrymander districts to their advantage. In FL, they are attempting to eliminate vote by mail, which is a major asset for senior citizens who may have difficulty getting to the polls to vote. Previously, if a FL citizen registered for vote by mail, they stayed registered for several election cycles. Now, because of a recent law change by Gov. DeSantis, each citizen's vote by mail request expires after every election and must be renewed. He's made it harder to vote.
  • I am for preserving and protecting Medicare and Social Security at all costs! Too many politicians (including FL senator Rick Scott), have tried to sunset both of them. They want to raise the minimum retirement age and lower/eliminate your hard-earned benefits. These should both be "hands off", as we the people have worked hard our whole lives for both of them! If they want to raise money, let them tax the rich, the wealthy 1%, or eliminate tax cuts for the rich, like oil subsidies, etc.
I am passionate about substantive policies such as immigration policies. There should be border security measures, but this can still be done while respecting humanitarian principles. There should be visa reforms and pathways to citizenship.

I am also passionate about regulation policies such as environmental policy. Global natural challenges need to be addressed. I believe there should be emission standards regulating pollutants from industrial facilities, vehicles and power plants.
There should be ecosystem protection; measures should be in place to preserve and restore wetlands and forests.

Lastly, I support sustainable practices promoting sustainable agriculture, forestry and fisheries to ensure long term environmental health.
It is most important that an elected official be honest and have integrity. He/she must have the voters' (constituents) best interest at heart, and represent the will of the people when casting votes in the legislature. He/she must be able to put aside their own best interest, and vote in the interest of the people who got him/her to the elected position, as they pledged an oath to represent these people and vote their way. They should be ethical, and not accept bribes, favors, or anything else that could be perceived as trying to buy their influence. It is important that the elected official have good listening skills, so they can not only listen to the problems/issues of their constituents, but they can also listen to opposing viewpoints from the other side of the aisle from officials outside of their political party. Hopefully all sides can compromise and come together to reach decisions that will benefit the majority. An official should possess tenacity to move their agenda forward. They must also have good analytical skills to identify issues and problem solving skills to come up with solutions to the many issues they're sure to face. They should also have good persuasion skills to gain support for the policies they believe in.
I worked in a local record store, which was a dream-come-true for me, since I was always passionate about music and have personally been to over 300 concerts in my lifetime. I would always look forward to going in to work, and couldn't believe that they were actually paying me to talk with people about music. We also got several perks like discounts on albums, and the occasional free album or tickets to a concert. (Sometimes even backstage passes)! If it wasn't for the fact that the job only paid minimum wage, I'd probably still be working there!
