King was a 2015 Democratic candidate for the District 2 seat of the Jacksonville, Florida City Council.

Lisa King and Terrance Freeman advanced to a runoff. They defeated Jack Daniels, Gary Barrett, and Connell Crooms in the general election for Jacksonville City Council At-large Position 1 on March 19, 2019.

2015
The city of Jacksonville, Florida, held elections for mayor and city council on May 19, 2015. A primary took place on March 24, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 16, 2015. All 19 city council seats were up for election.[1]
In the primary election for District 2, Al Ferraro (R) and Lisa King (D) advanced past Jack Daniels (R). Ferraro and King faced off in the general election on May 19, 2015.[2] Ferraro was the winner.[3] Incumbent William H. Bishop (R) was ineligible to run for re-election due to term limits.[4]
