Three of the five seats on the Coeur d'Alene Public Schools board of trustees were scheduled to be up for by-district general election on May 16, 2017, but the election was canceled due to lack of opposition. Newcomer Lisa May was elected to the Zone 1 seat that was left open when incumbent Chista Hazel did not file to run for re-election. John Rubert initially filed to run against May in the election, but he withdrew from the race. Incumbents Dave Eubanks and Tom Hearn, the only candidates to file for the Zone 4 and 5 seats, respectively, were re-elected to the board by default.[1][2][3][4]

This election was canceled due to lack of opposition. Newcomer Lisa May won election to the board by default.[2]
