Campaign website

McCoy's campaign website stated the following:

SAFEGUARD OUR FREEDOMS

Our freedoms and liberties are what make our country unique and special. We need to hold on to the ones we hold most dear, the right to bear arms, freedom of religion and freedom of speech to achieve the ultimate goal of “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” as pledged in the Declaration of Independence. I have always kept an open mind and have been willing to listen to other viewpoints contrary to my own. Political speech should always be protected and tolerated in a true democracy. We can always agree to disagree, but I will always fight to protect our constitutional rights and freedoms as Americans. No more tyrannical mandates, no more cancel culture, no more shutdowns.

ECONOMY

We need to lower taxes to revitalize the economy, not raise them. We need to lower our national debt, not increase it exponentially. Like many Americans, I have had to make hard choices that I have never had to make due to inflation and soaring gas prices. Skyrocketing inflation has largely been a result of reckless, irresponsible spending and an unwillingness to continue to be energy independent. I will never forget that it is the tax money earned by hard-working Americans that the government is spending which always deserves the utmost respect and responsibility. It was so disheartening to see the toll the pandemic took on our community and small businesses. I will do everything in my power to empower and support small businesses. We also need to increase manufacturing here and buy products made in America!

SECURE OUR BORDERS

There is no greater importance than securing our borders for the safety and security of our country and all Americans. During my teaching career, I was an E.S.O.L. teacher for many years because I have always valued a culturally diverse society in America and fully support the longstanding tradition of legal immigration in this country. However, we cannot continue on the path of unlimited immigration. It is quite simple. Everyone cannot live here or everything people come here for, will cease to exist. This country would be left broke and barren with the toll it would take on our economic and natural resources, not to mention our schools, workforce and healthcare system. A better solution is to help, encourage and promote American values and our way of life around the world.

PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT

Living in Georgia, through hiking and enjoying the outdoors, sparked my appreciation and concern for nature and the environment. While climate change is an import issue, it is not the only environmental issue. I’m all for energy alternatives, as long as they are readily available and affordable. Air pollution is a critical problem, however, so is water and land pollution. We need to refocus on sustainable growth and minimizing environmental impacts by doing a better job of reducing, reusing, and recycling for a clean and healthy environment. Protecting the environment is an essential issue for the future of our country and this planet we all call home.

EDUCATION

I believe that education is the great equalizer and that all students have the right to a quality education to prepare them for any path they choose. As an educator myself, I will always support public education. In this country, there are certainly more great schools, than poor ones. However, I also support school choice so parents can find the right school for their children and always being advocates for them. I believe in teaching the basics of literacy, math, social studies and science. Schools should always be about teaching students how to think, not what to think.

WOMEN'S RIGHTS

I will always be a defender of women’s rights. Whether in the workplace, in sports, or in their everyday lives, women and girls should always have a fair playing field. I support a woman’s right to choose. I believe it is a very personal choice, not a political one. Becoming a mother is a tremendous responsibility. Therefore, no woman should be forced into becoming one before she is wholeheartedly ready to do so. Women who are the victims of rape, incest or whose health is at risk, should always have the choice to decide their life and future.

SAFE COMMUNITIES - BACK THE BLUE!

We need police in our communities for the safety and protection of all citizens. There are bad apples in every profession. We should not condemn all, for the actions of a few highlighted on the news. Crime is on the rise throughout our country as a direct result of the movement to defund and demonize police. Our police aim to serve and protect people, risking their own lives every day. So, we need to always Back the Blue![2]
