As a first-generation Italian American, I learned from my parents the value of working hard and never accepting anything less than my best effort. I am an alumnus of Wayne State University earning a B.A In English and MSLS in Library Science. I have primarily worked in libraries, public, private and academic settings. I am happily married for 28 years to my best friend James.
  • Accountablity and Transperancy for all public offices. I beleive that those who hold public offices should be held accountable for all their actions and be responsive to the needs of the community they represent. Too often the trust betwene the community and public officiasl has been undermined by unethical practices. The trust must be resotred by provideing a transparecy and accountablity at all levels of government.
  • Healthcare issues remain to be a top concerns for our area. We need better healthcare options for every resident. It needs to fulfill there main requirements: accessible, reliable and affordable.
  • Small businesses have been hit hard during the Corona Virus Crisis. Lansing has turned their backs on the business owners who have faced the difficult decision to close their businesses, leavnign many without jobs. As a Representative I will work to get the support that Small businesses need to help our economy growing again.

Vocational training is the best solution to this problem. I love the work that Focus Hope as done in our area . They have helped so many learn skills that not only help them get a job but also keep them. This is key to building up a strong and vibrant community.
Detroit Free Press   Featured local question
Spending priorities should be on supporting small business, building up schools, and public safety. Taking valuable dollars away from these areas is tantamount to being fiscally negligent.
Detroit Free Press   Featured local question
As a state, we can no longer afford political leaders who put themselves before the constituents. Just as we need to have a better way to remove bad police officers, we need to do the same for public officials who have broken the public trust. The process should be quick and fair allowing for both the accused and prosecution ample opportunities to prove innocence or guilt. Drawing out the process just contributes to public cynicism and distrust.

I prefer spending cuts. The economy has taken a toll on everybody. Tax hikes at this time is not even an option. We must all get ready to tighten the belts and work with what we have.

I beleive ht fixing the roads must be one with colaboration with the cities and counties. Working with leaders at the local level it can be determined which rads are used most, what would be he best practices to fix the roads and coming up with funding to where both the local and state government share the ocstss

The experiment called "Common Core" has failed. I beleive that returning traditional classic education is th ekey to giving every child a rounded edcation that will prepare them well for either college or the trades.
The topics mentioned above are very important to me. Yet education remains a top priority as well. Michgian still lags behind in Educational reading and Math skills for K-12. As a librarian, I understand the importance of providing quality education and library systems to meet the demands of educating our children. We must do more to help them achieve higher reading and math skills, to prepare them for the challenges of tomorrow.
I look up to my parents. They trailblazed a way to a new country, learned a new language, and brought up two daughters who both are successful in their perspective fields. Without them, I don't believe I would have had the courage and conviction to keep trying to be better and do better in my life.
Anything written by William Bennett. He provides one of the best insights on American History and the birth of our Counry. I beleive that iknowing American Hisory well, it easy to undersand dhe Constittuiton and the laws that I will be swearing to uphold.
I believe in the American Dream. Most specifically, I believe that our country, the state is the best place to live. My strongest strengths has always been in helping others and a problem solver.
I have two rules in life that I beleive would help in leaving a legacy of perserveraance and leaving this world better than I had found it. Rule number one, never say never. Rule number two, don't say it can't be one tell me how it can be done.
I recall vividly President Ford taking office after President Nixon resigned. My fourth-grade teacher had us watch it on TV. It was the first lesson about public leaders needing to be accountable to those they represent. I believe from that incident, we sitll have the scars of the "public trust" being broken.
My first job was as an entrepreneur. I was the babysitter of my subdivision. I designed my business cards and flyers and passed them out to the homes in my neighborhood. Within two weeks, I had clients and wokred every day and weekend. I began when I was 13, and retired from babysitting four years later. It was a wonderful experience.
Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak. First grown-up novel given to me by my Godmother. I loved the love story of Larissa and Yuri. When I read it again as a high school student, I was intrigued by the political tone and what it was like to live under a communist regime.
This will sound corny but I would love to be Belle of Beauty and the Beast. I always invite people to read the original tale, not the Disney version. I would love to be the girl who is trapped in a mansion with a library filled with books. This seems to be the ideal situation for me.
I have had many challenges in my life but would I call them struggles? I would say no. I have been very blessed to have a supportive husband, parents, and friends who have cheered me on when I was at my lowest points. Did every challenge end up in a happy ending? Goodness, no. But they did end up being very valuable lessons to help me move forward.
No, I don't believe so, mainly because I don't believe in career politicians. Too often we have people in leadership roles that have been there too long or are filling the seat because their spouse or parent held the seat before them. I believe this leads to bad leadership and an attitude of entitlement. It should be an honor to represnet your community not an entitlement.
Getting over the economic effects of the Coronavirus. Michigan waited too long to reopen which leads to the consequences of lost business, lost jobs, and eventually lost in population as people begin to move out to other states to find opportunities.
The ideal relationship should be that they work together to solve the problems the state is facing. What we have at the moment is a governor who prefers to rule by Executive orders not by working with the legislature.
Yes of course. I will always want to collaborate with others on solving problems. However, this is not an indication that I would give up core beliefs jor make a deal just for the sake of making a deal.
I would like to be part of the Education committee. I believe that my experiences in schools and libraries will benefit the committee.
I've always been am an admirer of Abraham Lincoln. His leadership style is one to study because it always seemed as though he found the path to winning the argument with clear logic, patience, and humility.
At this point, I have not considered this possibility. I am concentrating on winning this seat first.
