Lisa Van Amburg
Lisa Van Amburg was a judge on the Eastern District of the Missouri Court of Appeals. She was appointed to this position by Democratic Governor Jay Nixon in 2012. She was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Judge Kenneth Romines, who retired on August 12, 2012. She was retained in 2014 for a term that was scheduled to expire on December 31, 2026.[1] Amburg retired from the court in August 2018.[2]
Education
Van Amburg graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1970 and received her J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law in 1975.[3]
Career
After being admitted to the bar in 1975, Van Amburg became a founding member of the first all-female law firm in St. Louis. She has worked for several law firms in general civil practice, concentrating in civil rights and employment law. Van Amburg has also served as an adjunct law professor at Washington University in St. Louis and St. Louis University School of Law.[3] From 2003 until her appointment to the Missouri Court of Appeals in 2012, she served as a circuit court judge for the 22nd Circuit Court.[4] She was retained to the circuit court in 2004.[3]
Elections
2014
Amburg was retained to the Court of Appeals with 67.3 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [5]
2010
Van Amburg was retained to the appellate court on November 2, 2010, receiving 73.9% of the vote.[6]
