I am a 5th generation Anacortes resident and have made a name for myself within the 40th LD by serving the people of our community on the issues we care about. From affordable housing and social services, to environmental priorities and public safety - I have made these issues the forefront of my work during my time on the Anacortes City Council and as a State Senator. I catalyzed the formation of the Affordable Housing and Community Resources Committee while on the city council, and was the primary author of the Anacortes' Affordable Housing Strategic Plan - the first of its kind in Skagit County. I have served the residents of the district in an elected capacity, but also as a private citizen. I owned an operated The Business for 6 years, served as a PTA President, and supported the Anacortes Farmers Market as a Board Advisor. My community has inspired me to serve.
  • Preserving the open spaces, beaches, and wildlife that are the cornerstones of our region; investing in clean energy and fighting for social justice as we face the existential threat of climate change; & planning for the energy and transportation needs of the neighborhoods and industries of tomorrow.
  • Getting our most vulnerable neighbors the services and support they need; creating a path to affordable housing for all ages and incomes through regional collaboration and strategic land use, zoning, and financial modeling & recognizing and investing in housing as a foundation of public health and community well-being.
  • Working collaboratively with the community, all levels of government, and across the aisle to come up with real solutions to our shared challenges - large and small.
Finding ways to invest in people and planet to create a bright future- specifically I want to work on:

- Greening our public transportation sector including electrifying our ferry system.
- Tackling our issues around waste stream management.
- Restoring our waterways to ensure adequate supply for people, ecosystems, and agriculture.
- Creating pathways to lower carbon fuels.
- Streamlining applications for DSHS, food stamps, and Medicaid.
- Working towards a universal healthcare model including full access to reproductive care and parity across racial and economic barriers.
- Enhancing public safety by addressing our gun violence epidemic, mental and behavioral health shortfalls, and working on criminal justice reform.

- Finding systemic approaches to overhaul our regressive tax code.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Washington

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Washington scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
