On November 4, 2008, Merry ran for Belknap District 2 of the New Hampshire House of Representatives, winning the second of two seats with 1,635 votes, behind Dennis Fields(R) with 1,802 votes, and ahead of Stanley Robinson (D) with 1,326 votes, Larry Scott (R) with 1,276 votes, and 7 votes for Others.[5]

Merry raised $950 for her campaign.[6]
