Liz has expertise in building partnerships, conservative policymaking, and effective oversight of substantial budgets in the public sector.
Her background includes a degree in education, time raising a family, time teaching in local schools, and a graduate degree in the Marriott School of Management at BYU. Liz Mumford's commitment to public service and civic involvement runs deep with her roles in many organizations.
Liz and her husband Russ find the greatest joy in their family. They are proud parents of four sons, with two wonderful daughters-in-law joining the family in 2023. I believe in leaving things better than you found them. That applies to relationships, projects, and places where I serve and live. When you visit the Commission chambers in Farmington, photos line the walls representing years of service given by Davis County citizens who stepped up and took an oath to serve. The legacy I hope to leave would be leaving this county better for the next generations because we were able to effectively address complex issues around population growth, demographic change, and economic development.
The proper role of government is to protect our rights and represent the will of the people. I believe that the best governance happens closest to us. At the commission level, I'll make conservative policy and fiscally responsible budget decisions that create conditions for families to thrive and for businesses to prosper. The county plays a critical role in promoting a business-friendly environment that invites economic development and in preserving public safety.
The commission is responsible for serving as the executive and legislative branches of county government. They set a vision for the county via policy and budget and should deliver services to citizens in an efficient and effective manner. I've built a culture of shared governance and public engagement during some of the most tumultuous times in recent history in my elected role. My advocacy and decision-making process relies on 1) accurate data analysis, 2) input from Davis County residents, elected officials, and business leaders, and 3) alignment with principles and values. I collaborate effectively to generate solutions. I build partnerships and am known for responsiveness, levelheaded decision-making, and integrity.
I want to represent you by managing resources and building partnerships with a vision for the future. Our county needs a commissioner who leads with vision and principle. I'll apply my experience with public administration and fiduciary oversight to county government in a responsive, conservative, strategic way. As a commissioner, I'll advocate for a bright future for Davis County families, cultivate conditions for economic prosperity, and preserve local control and values.
