Lizbeth Gonzalez
Lizbeth Gonzalez is a judge for the 1st Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. She assumed office on November 1, 2019. Her current term ends on December 31, 2026.
Gonzalez was a judge on the New York City Civil Court from 2005 to 2015 and an acting justice on the Supreme Court 12th Judicial District from 2012 to 2015.[1][2]
Education
Gonzalez received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1974 and her J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1979.[1][3]
Career
Gonzalez has worked in the following roles:
- Visiting attorney for the Puerto Rican Legal Defense & Education Fund
- Senior attorney for MFY Legal Services
- Associate counsel, New York State Mortgage Agency
- Assistant corporation counsel of the New York City Department of Law
- Assistant attorney general of the New York State Department of Law
- Director of legal services for the American Indian Law Alliance
- Administrative law judge for the Environmental Control Board
- Administrative law judge for the Taxi and Limousine Commission
- Court attorney for the Bronx Housing Court
She served as a New York City Housing Court Judge from 1999 to 2004 and became a civil judge of the Bronx County Civil Court in 2005.[1]
