What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

Public safety and law enforcement Jobs and Economic Growth Improvement of our infrastructure: Roads, Bridges, Transportaion

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Improvement of our Criminal Justice System to rehabilitate those that can return to society as productive citizens, but to keep the incorrigible offenders behind bars. First Amendment Freedoms of Religion and Speech must be protected.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Abraham Lincoln. He knew his mission in a time of National Crises and did not shrink away from his duty despite severe ridicule and his eventual assassination.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

I recommend that everyone see the movie "The Free State of Jones" It shows how things really were in the South in the Civil War and during Reconstruction. It shows one man's quest for freedom and equality. It is an excellent film.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Humility, Common Sense and the courage to do what is right despite persecution.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Common sense and a good knowledge of the law and legal principles. Devotion to God.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To serve God and to do what is truly best for my constituents.

What legacy would you like to leave?

That something I do would promote freedom and inspire others to serve our Nation in a way that is unselfish and seeks the highest good of others.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy. I was 5 and in kindergarten.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Bible. It contains everything we need to know.

What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?

How about the roof that keeps the rain from coming in. Why do you ask such questions?

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Feelings of inadequacy.

Every state besides Nebraska has two legislative chambers. What do you consider the most important differences between the legislative chambers in your state?

The length of the term

What are the benefits and drawbacks of a unicameral state legislature, in your opinion?

It marginalizes that minority.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

Not necessarily. Talented individuals learn quickly. Some never develop proficiency.

What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?

To maintain the Freedoms which our founding fathers cherished in the face of an onslaught of socialism and the herd mentality espoused by the media.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature?

Hopefully, one of cooperation.

Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.

Of course, but not at the expense of sacrificing one's values and convictions.

What process do you favor for redistricting?

The current system where our legislature makes these decisions.

Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Abraham Lincoln

Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

I listened to a fine fellow who said he liked everything I said but could not vote for me because I was a Republican.
