Housing & Local Government Committee, Washington State Senate
The Housing & Local Government Committee is a standing committee of the Washington State Senate. It was previously known as the Local Government Committee.
Per Section V of the Senate Rules, committees of the Washington State Senate are appointed by the President of the Senate and confirmed by the senate.[1] Committees are responsible for considering measures referred to them in the interest of the state.[2] The deliberations of committees considering a vote on any bill, resolution, or memorial must be open to the public.[3]

Function
“ | The Senate Housing & Local Government Committee considers issues relating to housing authorities, housing affordability/financing, the housing trust fund, and landlord tenant issues. The committee deals with homelessness including prevention, youth homelessness, and the homeless housing surcharge. The committee also considers issues relating to the operation and financing of counties, cities and some special purpose districts, including growth management, land use, and permitting.
