Local taxes

Local taxes are taxes that are collected by city or county governments. Local taxes generally consist of sales, excise (on special items such as alcohol or tobacco), and property taxes.[1] Unlike the federal income tax, most local taxes are applied to taxpayers at the same rate, regardless of annual income.[2]
