Lody Jean
Lody Jean is a judge of the Florida 11th Circuit Court. Her current term ends on January 2, 2029.
Jean won re-election for judge of the Florida 11th Circuit Court outright in the primary on August 23, 2022, after the general election was canceled.
She was appointed to the circuit court on April 17, 2020, by Governor Ron DeSantis to replace John Schlesinger.[1]
Jean served on the Miami-Dade County Court, Civil Division, from April 2019 until her appointment to the circuit court.[1]
Biography
Prior to her judicial career, Jean worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami and a J.D. degree from St. Thomas University School of Law.[1] Born in Haiti, Jean is the first Haitian-American to serve on the Miami-Dade County Court and on the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court. She has been a member of the Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida, the Sant La Haitian Neighborhood Center, and the Miami Children’s Corporation. Jean is also a former president of the Haitian Lawyers Association.[2]
