Logan County School Sales Tax Increase (April 2011)
A Logan County School Sales Tax Increase measure was on the April 5, 2011 ballot in Logan County.
This measure was approved
- YES 1,916
- NO 1,242[1]
This measure sought to increase the current county sales tax by 1 percent in order to help school district funding in the county. The money generated from the tax will go exclusively towards building improvement projects for schools in the county. School officials noted that this will ease property tax burdens on residents and get help from those who shop in the county who may not live there.[2] The County Chamber of Commerce noted that although the increase in sales tax may make business less competitive, the needs of the school outweigh other issues. They supported the increase and were encouraging others to vote Yes on it as well.[3]
