Candidate survey

Fahey participated in Ballotpedia's 2017 survey of municipal government candidates.[4] The following sections display his responses to the survey questions. When asked what his top priority would be if elected, the candidate made the following statement:

Small Business / Economic Development / Jobs

With one of the largest concentrations of small business in the city, Ward 3 is a true hub for enterprise. Thanks to the influx of small business and new jobs, both of which are integral to fostering a thriving community, Ward 3 has witnessed an economic boom over the last several years. This momentum is vital and must continue. It is not enough to simply encourage small business; rather, we must also cultivate an environment where small business can succeed long-term – an environment with amenities and attractions that attract residents and visitors alike. In order to grow the community’s small business sector and capitalize on existing momentum, my approach will involve three points of action: advocating for new small businesses, helping sustain current businesses and using small business as a means to create amenities and resources for Ward 3 residents. This strategy will act as a conduit for job creation, providing employers with the necessary support to grow their businesses and maximize opportunities for employment.

Neighborhood Development

As a Ward 3 resident myself, I understand the importance of continued neighborhood development. This initiative includes advocating for the preservation of our neighborhoods while also promoting new development and revitalization throughout the community. A focus on neighborhood safety and security constitutes the core of these efforts – ensuring our neighborhoods have the resources and community support to remain safe. I will work with our residents to address neighborhood issues, collaborate with law enforcement to increase community policing and team up with developers to help our community and neighborhoods fulfill their true potential for success.

Youth & Seniors

I’ve spent the last five years of my career working with troubled and disadvantaged youth of Northeast Ohio. This experience opened my eyes to three key areas of development that require our immediate attention – not only in Ward 3, but also across all of Cleveland: 1. Education: Supporting the Cleveland Plan and working with schools to provide opportunities for our city’s children. 2. Job training: Establishing programs and partnering with local businesses to train youth in valuable industries such as the trades. 3. Job creation: Continuing to create employment and internship opportunities in high school and beyond.

In addition to our youth, we must not forget about Seniors living in our communities. Ensuring that the elderly living in Ward 3 have access to critical services they need, their questions and concerns are being responded to quickly and they are not being pushed out of our neighborhoods will be a core tenant of what I will fight for as Councilman.[5]
