Logan Manhart is a young Conservative running in District 1 for South Dakota State House. Logan grew up on a hobby farm just outside of Aberdeen with his parents and three siblings.
  • In South Dakota supporting our law enforcement officers and first responders is crucial.
  • South Dakota should be a bastion for faith, family, and freedom for all Americans. Let's keep it that way.
  • In an era of censorship, the ability to speak freely is more important than ever.
Free Speech - In an era of big tech censorship, government censorship, and thought policing, South Dakota should serve as a bulwark against such ideology. Every person should be free to express their views in the marketplace of ideas - Including in the home, on the phone, and online. These organizations must be held accountable and regulated to protect your human right to free speech.

Law and Order - Our law enforcement officers and first responders deserve respect from our community. They have families just like you and I. They deserve to return home with peace of mind knowing the community has their back. Though there are always laws to change, update, and fix, this does not denigrate the roles these people play in our communities to keep us safe. The law enforcement community in South Dakota should have the utmost support.

Gun Rights - As soon as I turned 18, I applied for a concealed carry permit in South Dakota because I knew how important it is to protect ourselves and our families from others. I am an avid second amendment supporter in all aspects. The founding fathers taught us that our right to self-defense was not given to us by the government, but it was an undeniable right that should be granted to all. I stand against red flag laws and bans on Semi-Automatic weapons, handguns, and hunting rifles.
George Washington. I do not believe his life could have been lived out today. He understood what it took to lead under dire circumstances, and he was good at it. He also knew when to step away and allow the country he created to continue on without his oversight.
I was three years old when 9/11 happened. I remember the vague image of a plane hitting a tower. It's an image that has stayed in the back of my memory for 20 years.
Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I worked for my family's real estate business. It was an incredible hands on experience.
The Governor should lead and set the tone for their state. However, they are still one branch of three equal parts of government. They should have no more or less power than the other two branches.
The state's greatest challenge will be meth and crime being brought in from other states.
It reduces one of the vital checks of government that we have.
No. That is one of the wonderful things about the American political system. Average everyday citizens can take part in its election process.
Yes. It is beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. Other legislators may have insights about your district, they may be dealing with similar problems in their own districts, or have been involved in the process more than you have.
Compromise is always necessary. However, compromising on what you know to be true and correct is never ok. My first goal as a legislature would not be to compromise but to represent my district to the best of my ability.

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
