Longest serving judge on the Missouri Supreme Court to retire

Missouri: Judge William Ray Price announced his retirement last week, which will go into effect on August 1, 2012. Judge Price is currently the longest serving judge on the Missouri Supreme Court. He was appointed to the court in 1992 by Governor John Ashcroft and served as Chief Justice from July of 2009 until June of 2011.[1][2]
During Price's service he was awarded The Claire McCaskill Award by the Missouri Association of Drug Court Professionals, The Roosevelt Award by the Greene County Drug Court, the Robert Walston Chubb Award by the Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, and the Distinguished Non-Alumnus Award from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.[3]
Governor Jay Nixon also expressed his appreciation saying,
- “He has demonstrated true leadership in addressing the challenges faced by Missouri’s justice system, working to protect public safety, contain costs and ensure the fair application of the law. I wish Judge Price well in the next part of his life and career.”[1]
