Longtime probate judge retires at 78
December 25, 2010
New Mexico: Judge Ruben Savedra has retired from the New Mexico Probate Courts, where he has served for 20 years. He was first elected to this position in 1988, winning by one vote. He lost retention in 1990, but was re-elected in 1992 and every year thereafter. The 78-year-old was replaced by Carlos Carrillo on December 20, 2010. Regarding his judicial career, Savedra stated, "I think it's time for younger people to come in and do our job...I'm 78-years old and I've made up my mind — I'm not coming back. I have thoroughly enjoyed my job tremendously and I've gotten to know a lot of good people."[1]
