Paxton's website highlighted the following issues:[6]
Education
- Excerpt: "As the husband of a public school teacher, Lonnie is dedicated to protecting our schools and creating a positive learning environment for the future of our state—our children. He knows the challenges that our school administrators and teachers face every day, and is committed to giving our schools the resources they need to educate the next generation of Oklahomans."
Healthcare
- Excerpt: "Lonnie supports developing flexible, market-based approaches to healthcare that put Oklahoma first, not Washington DC. He will stand against federal overreach, fueled by the disaster that is Obamacare, and instead fight for Oklahoma priorities like affordability and rural access to doctors and medical providers. Lonnie’s experience on the Grady Memorial Hospital Board provides him with the experience to know ways to improve Oklahomans’ health."
Right to farm
- Excerpt: "Lonnie grew up on his family’s farm, and knows that Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers are long overdue for protection from extreme environmentalists and animal rights groups. These left wing groups take every opportunity to impose their agenda at the expense of property owners and consumers. Lonnie supports Right to Farm and the agricultural industry."
Taxes and government efficiency
- Excerpt: "In a tough budget environment like Oklahoma now faces, opportunists on the left will begin an all-out push for higher taxes. Lonnie will push back, looking instead for ways to make government more efficient, reduce waste, and streamline state government."
- Excerpt: "When it comes to government, Lonnie believes that duplicity has run amok. That’s why he supports efforts to consolidate and streamline agencies and bureaucracies that naturally fit together, in an effort to avoid wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
