Lonnie W. Carraway was a judge of the North Carolina 8th Judicial District.

Carraway (Democratic Party) ran for election to the North Carolina State Senate to represent District 5. He lost in the Democratic primary on May 8, 2018.

Carraway was a district court judge for the 8A Judicial District and the 8B Judicial District of North Carolina. He was appointed by former Governor Jim Hunt, effective March 10, 2000, to replace Paul L. Jones. He lost re-election in the 2012 general election and stepped down in December of 2012.[1][2][3][4]

Biography

Lonnie W. Carraway earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from East Carolina University in 1977, a master's degree in business administration from East Carolina University in 1978, and a J.D. from the North Carolina Central University School of Law in 1983.[3] Carraway's career experience includes teaching business law at East Carolina University and founding his law office.[3][5]

Carraway was defeated for re-election by Ericka Y. James on November 6, 2012, receiving 47.45% of the vote.[4][6][7]
