I am a mom, married, and a Registered Nurse. I am a 6th generation Idahoan. I have an AS in nursing from North Idaho College, and a BS in Health Science with emphasis on community health education. I am an avid outdoors-person, and have been involved as a volunteer with National Nurses United, Selkirk Conservation League, the local Democratic, Party, and Moms Demand Action.
  • Idaho is unsafe for pregnant women with our current abortion ban. There is uncertainty as to when and how to treat pregnancy emergencies, putting pregnant at extreme risk of death, disability, and loss of reproductive ability. We are losing qualified healthcare providers as a result. The legislature has no business making decisions for women, and telling physicians how to practice.
  • Idaho is a "Right to Work" state. We have to strengthen our current labor laws in order for workers to enjoy a safe work environment, access to healthcare, and a livable wage. Too many workers cannot afford housing, or to buy food for their families. We lose workers to neighboring states as a result.
  • Fund our public schools. The Idaho constitution mandates a free education to all. Even after adding funding this year, we are still last in the country for per pupil funding. The burden is currently on the taxpayers in the form of school levies. The legislature and governor would rather give tax refunds to the wealthy, than take care of our teachers and students. With this, I would advocate for universal pre-k also. Children at this age are avid learners. Let's give every child a jump start on their education, and give working parents access to pre-k, and affordable child care.
I have a healthcare background, and have seen the effects of lack of access to healthcare. It is less expensive to provide the necessary healthcare, including preventive care to everyone, than it is to take care of very ill people due to lack of access.

I have been a union nurse, and a non-union nurse. The difference is clear when it comes to pay and benefits. Union jobs are better in every way. We lose nurses to neighboring states all the time. It's more cost effective to pay nurses what they deserve, give them the benefits they deserve, than to have to hire travelers at an exorbitant rate
I look up to Senator Frank Church. He had the support of both Republicans and Democrats. He stuck to his principles, being against the Viet Nam war, and then on the Church Committee investigating the CIA, FBI, mafia, and Kennedy's.
The ability to listen, honesty, and the willingness to compromise, and work with others.
I am a nice person. I have a sense of humor, and I'm honest. If I don't know something, I'm not afraid to say so. I also believe I'm a good listener
Legislators have a duty to represent their constituents. Listen to them, and see what they want. I feel like I'm not represented at all by my elected officials. They should not be beholden to out of state PAC's.
Being remembered as an advocate for the underdog.
At age 17, I worked at Kootenai Memorial Hospital right out of High School, as a nurses aide. I was on the job until I graduated nursing school, and became an RN.
"The Hobbit" I love it because Bilbo was scared, but he accomplished his goal. It's also a great story
David Bowie and Queen... "Under Pressure"
I lost my mom to gun violence when I was 19.
My state is sliding towards extremism. There is a blurring of the line between church and state. Most Idahoans are reasonable people, but their voices are not being heard. We are represented by extremists who have their own agenda, and don't listen.
A string walks into a bar, and the bartender says "we don't serve your kind here. You have to leave" . The string leaves, and stands outside the bar, frustrated. He decides to go back and try again. Same thing happens. The bartender says " get out, we don't serve your kind here". The string is very dejected, but decides to try something. He loops himself around, and pulls tight, and ruffles up his ends. He walks back into the bar, and the bartender says "we don't serve your kind here. You have to leave!" The string replies: "No! I'm a frayed knot!"
I would like to see our abortion ban at least modified to be able to allow physicians to be able to make the decision to protect a woman's health without fear of prosecution.
I oppose changes to the initiative process. This is direct Democracy. It gives the people their voice, which is important in a state like Idaho.
