Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (California state house)
Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (Democratic Party) was a member of the California State Assembly, representing District 80. She assumed office on May 28, 2013. She left office on January 5, 2022, citing her upcoming plans to lead the California Labor Federation.[1]
Biography
Lorena Gonzalez earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University. She earned a master's degree from Georgetown University and a J.D. from UCLA. Prior to being elected to the state Assembly, Gonzalez was a labor leader and organizer. Gonzalez also previously worked as the senior advisor to California's Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante, on the California State Lands Commission, and on the California Coastal Commission.[2]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Lorena Gonzalez (D) was unopposed in the blanket primary and was unopposed in the general election.[8][9][10]

Gonzalez won election in a special election for California State Assembly District 80. The seat was vacant following Ben Hueso's (D) election to the California State Senate on March 12, 2013. Gonzalez defeated Steve Castaneda (D) in the special election, which took place on May 21, 2013.[11][12][13][14]
