An effort to recall Lorenzo Langford from his position as Mayor of Atlantic City, New Jersey, was launched in early May 2010 by the president of the city’s police officers’ union.[1] The recall did not qualify for the ballot.[2][3]
Path to the ballot
To force a recall vote, signatures equalling 25% or more of registered city voters needed to have been collected and submitted to election officials.
The process of collecting signatures could not start until November 2010, because under New Jersey's recall laws, recalls can't be officially launched until the politician who is the target of the recall has been in office at least one year.
