An effort in Clinton, Louisiana, to recall Mayor Lori Ann Bell was initiated in January 2019.[1] Petitioners had until May 7 to submit enough signatures to trigger a recall.[1]

Recall supporters

Petitioners began the recall process in January 2019, after Bell was arrested and accused of insufficient response to repeated warnings about problems with the town's water system.[2] Bell was also arrested twice in 2018 for malfeasance and prior to her January 2019 arrest was out on bail.[2] Supporters of the recall pointed to Bell's multiple arrests while in office and a Louisiana Department of Health report that condemned the city's water system as the basis for the recall effort.[3]
