An effort to recall El Dorado County District 4 Supervisor Lori Parlin in California did not go to a vote in 2024. Recall supporters served Parlin with a recall notice of intent on April 18, 2023. To get the recall on the ballot, the recall petition needed to be approved for circulation by the county and recall supporters needed to collect the signatures of 5,535 voters in Supervisor District 4.[1]

Recall supporters

Supporters of recalling Parlin argued that she does not represent the less populous parts of El Dorado County. Recall supporters also criticized the decision of the Board of Supervisors to place a temporary homeless shelter in Placerville.[1]

Recall opponents

Parlin responded to the recall petition as follows:[2]

I am honored to have been elected twice as your District 4 Supervisor. This recall is supported by individuals who have violated the County planning and zoning rules and are trying to replace me with a candidate willing to do their bidding.

I have made it my mission to represent all residents and businesses of District 4. I am fulfilling my campaign promise by empowering and collaborating with community groups so their voices are heard and actions are taken. Examples include redirecting road funds for better use on local roads and not developer projects, reducing unplanned PG&E power outages, and returning grazing to state lands for fuel reduction, to name a few.

This recall is a waste of taxpayer money, time, and resources. I am a true independent with no political party affiliation. My voting record is a testament to my fiscally conservative values. I urge you to reject this attempt to overturn the will of the voters from the past two elections and allow me to continue working for all residents of District 4. [3]
