Price highlighted the following issues on her campaign website:
| “ | "A proven leader and dedicated advocate for the students and taxpayers of District 204."
Why run... again? When I made the decision to run for the Board of Education in 2011, I thought long and hard about why I wanted to do this and what kind of commitment it would mean. Some people encouraged me and some people called me "crazy" for considering the idea. Now, some call me crazy for considering a second term in an elected volunteer position! Being actively involved in PTA led me to become the President of the Indian Prairie Special Needs PTA. It was in that role that I found a passion for advocacy in education. With a desire to further my advocacy efforts for ALL students in District 204, I was elected to the Board of Education in 2011 and was chosen by my peers to serve as Board President in 2013. That advocacy continues in the great work this board has done to make District 204 one of THE top districts in the state! We all know that a good education leads to great opportunities beyond high school. But the value of a good school system is also important for the development and sustainability of the community and businesses within that community. I will work diligently to ensure that our district continues to provide quality educational opportunities for our students in a manner the community finds to be reasonable. In other words, I want to continue to give the taxpayers more “bang” for their educational buck. We have a lot to be proud of but we face challenges as we continue to guess what the State of Illinois will do to address the issues around funding public education. I am a proven leader who isn't afraid to meet those challenges head on and will continue to advocate not only for our students, but for our taxpayers, as well. The recent SB16 presentations that were shared with the community showing the negative impact to our students and taxpayers are just one example of these efforts. Other districts followed our lead and the bill was effectively killed in the last general assembly. It is this kind of diligence and leadership that will be necessary to keep our focus on the education of the students in our district. This website will highlight some of the reasons I am passionate about serving in this district. It will also showcase some of the work the Board of Education has done during my time on the board to ensure the success of our students while being mindful of the impact our decisions have on taxpayers. It has been an honor to serve this district as a member of the Indian Prairie Board of Education. I have a proven history of focused leadership and advocacy. I will continue to be a positive voice that will represent Indian Prairie School District 204 families and taxpayers. I hope that you will continue to put your trust in me as I work to preserve and improve upon the educational excellence that will enable our students to succeed at every level. I would be honored to have your continued support on April 7, 2015. Sincerely, Lori Price[12] |
