I am a U.S. Army Veteran, attorney and business owner who is a proven leader ready to put my skills and experience to work for the county. I have lived in Alameda County for over 20 years and would bring a fresh perspective to the Board of Supervisors. As a small business owner, I understand the value of strategic planning and how to set realistic and achievable goals. As a nonprofit leader, I understand the importance of staffing and community building. I am a hardworking leader with a history of identifying innovative solutions and pushing against the status quo. I have a record of solving problems that others thought unsolvable and I will focus my skills on creative strategies to move the needle on improved housing and public safety. I am committed to finding untapped avenues for funding, pushing for improved technology that will lead to greater efficiency, and community building initiatives. I believe everyone deserves to have a voice in a government that serves their needs.
  • Revitalization of our communities: celebrating the rich diversity of Alameda County by infusing our policy with community outreach, prioritizing the building of affordable housing and community centers that will drastically reduce the reliance on social services and lead to safer neighborhoods.
  • True public safety: a holistic approach to crime that complements smart, accountable policing with community based violence interruption programs, child poverty tax credits, diversion programs for at-risk youth, and restorative justice.
  • Weaving a stronger social safety net: accounting for regressive taxes, expanding early childhood education programs, prioritizing building housing for low and extremely low income families.
I am passionate about finding upstream solutions to problems our county has struggled with for decades. Income inequality, the growing wealth gap, and structural racism are slowly killing our communities and yet we spend all of our money and political capital on bandaids to alleviate the symptoms.
Integrity, leadership, humility, and service to others above self.
I remember the assassination attempt on Ronald Reagan in 1981. I was in 5th grade.
Teaching swimming lessons at the Boys & Girls Club as a sophomore in high school! I continued to lifeguard and teach swim lessons through college.
The Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells. This series explores human relationships, what it means to be a person, and the downsides to profit-oriented, immoral, corporate governments.
Strong leadership and collaboration skills are what is most needed for this County Supervisor position. The holder of this office must be able to ask tough questions and be willing to bring in diverse stakeholders to make informed decisions.
Financial transparency and government accountability are necessary for democracy. There's no wonder that there are so many disengaged voters in our county when it is so challenging to see behind county actions.
