|From 2003 to 2020 I was the Department Chair of the Laney College Machine Technology Program. I worked to build the program from one that was almost down to one of the best in the state of California. In 2015 the California Industrial and Technology Education Association named me Community College Instructor of the Year .In 2019 Laney College selected me as the winner of the We Rise Award as Laney Faculty of the Year. I have worked in career education at the college level, regional level, and statewide level. I have also worked with local employers like the San Francisco Public utilities Commission and EBMUD to build apprenticeship and bring women and people of color into these high paying skilled trades jobs. I am the only candidate of current members of the board of trustees that has experience in workforce development and building apprenticeship, I believe we need to expand our outreach to new areas of our community that we have not been serving. I also believe no organization can successfully manage a 150 million dollar budget without a strategic plan and strategic goals.
- Create a new strategic plan for the District and use strategic goals and shared governance to drive the new budget.
- Align the District's Budget around student success and stop cutting classes.
- Expand enrollment thorough increased marketing and and focused outreach efforts to groups we have ignored.
I am also strongly committed to strategic planning and continuous improvement as a process that will better align our students and communities education for the future.
