Louise Dovre Bjorkman is a judge for District 5 of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She assumed office in 2008. Her current term ends on January 2, 2029.
Bjorkman ran for re-election for the District 5 judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Bjorkman was appointed to this position in June 2008 by Governor Tim Pawlenty (R).[1]
Education
Judge Bjorkman received her B.A. magna cum laude from Luther College in 1982 and her J.D. cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1985.[1]
Career
Judge Bjorkman began her career in 1985 as an attorney with the firm of Rider, Bennett, Egan & Arundel, where she later became a partner. In 1998, she left this firm to accept an appointment by Gov. Carlson to the Second Judicial District Court. She was elected to this position in 2000 and served as lead judge of the Civil Division from 2000 to 2002 and as the Juvenile Drug Court coordinating judge from 2004 to 2005. She then joined Larson King, L.L.P. as a partner in 2005 and worked in this capacity until her appointment to the court of appeals in 2008.[1]
