Campaign themes

2014

Master's campaign website listed her themes for 2014:

Experience and Leadership make a difference. The district is welcoming a new superintendent and embarking on a new strategic plan, as well as a new Project Kids this fall to look at any remaining facilities needs. It is imperative that we have a Board leader who was part of setting that vision be involved in implementing it.

Education is not what it used to be. Gone are the days of rote memorizing. Our students today must be exposed to many different learning environments and opportunities. The passage of House Bill 5 has given us the chance to offer many pathways to success for our students who seek a college experience or want to enter the workforce immediately. My experience on the Board will allow us to focus on these important aspects of our students’ educational experience.

Education Funding in Texas is a complicated business. The citizens of Allen deserve a Board member who understands the funding mechanisms and has advocated within our legislature to make education funding a priority. I have developed relationships with all of our legislators and can communicate with them on the needs and desires of this community to graduate students who will be productive future citizens. Now that the state has partially restored funding, we will be looking at all options to fund sufficiently while reducing the tax load incurred by our taxpayers. My experience as a Board member who went through the process of budget reductions will be needed as we determine what is necessary going forward.

Thank you. I am honored to be able to serve the students, parents, staff and taxpayers of this district and hope that you will re-elect me to continue the great work of educating our students.
