What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
“ | 1) Creating a fair and effective school funding system 2) Ensuring Ohio families have access to affordable healthcare options |
” |
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?
“ | As a mother of two young boys, I am dedicated to creating a public school system that allows every child to live up to their potential and thrive here in Ohio. We need to act to reform charter schools, provide full and fair funding and invest in technical schools to prepare students for employment. We need to pass legislation to stop the skyrocketing cost of a college education and ensure students are able to attend great public universities here in Ohio. As a product of Ohio's education system, I know how important it is to create a strong educational foundation for children like mine.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[5]

Political philosophy
Valentine provided the following description of her political philosophy to Ballotpedia:
“ |
'As a mom, a wife, and a working professional, I never thought I’d be interested in running for a political office. But after the 2016 election cycle, that all changed. In 2016, I saw gerrymandered districts and special interest money profoundly influence election results. I witnessed the vast majority of candidates put their own private interests ahead of public wellbeing. And I watched so many of our elected officials lose sight of what it means to be a representative of the people and sideline the values of their communities. I’m running for Ohio Senate because this isn’t how government should work and we can do better. We must do better. It’s time to put aside partisan politics and work together to strenthen our schools, improve healthcare and support small businesses. I hope you’ll join me in this fight.' - Louise Valentine Louise is running for State Senate because our lives, and the lives of our children, are affected every day by decisions made in the Ohio legislature and it’s long past time “we the people” truly have a voice there. Louise is ready to represent working families and to actively engage with her constituents to make their wellbeing the top priority. Louise will fight to strengthen our public schools, provide affordable healthcare options for all and invest in economic development that provides jobs with livable wages for Ohioans. Louise believes that we ALL should have opportunities to learn, work and thrive here in Ohio now and in the future.[2][5] |
