The Louisiana Department of Elderly Affairs Amendment was not on the November 4, 2014 ballot in Louisiana as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. The measure would have created a Department of Elderly Affairs. The department would have been responsible for state functions designed to meet the needs of state residents sixty years of age or older.[1]
The proposed amendment was introduced into the Louisiana Legislature by State Representative Joe Harrison (R-51) as House Bill 343.

In Louisiana, a two-thirds majority vote is required in both the House of Representatives and Senate in order to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot.
