The Louisiana Education Excellence Fund Appropriations to French Immersion Elementary School Amendment was not on the ballot in Louisiana as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 8, 2022.[1]

The amendment would have appropriated $75,000 a year from the Education Excellence Fund to École Pointe-au-Chien, a French immersion school located in Terrebonne Parish that was established in 2022.[1]

In Louisiana, a two-thirds vote is needed in each chamber of the Louisiana State Legislature to refer a legislatively referred constitutional amendment to the ballot for voter consideration.

This amendment was introduced as House Bill 250 on February 28, 2022. On May 3, 2022, the state House passed HB 250 in a vote of 98-0 with seven members absent. The measure was not passed before the legislature adjourned the 2022 legislative session on June 6, 2022.[1]
