The Louisiana Governance of Education Proposition, also known as Proposition 2, was on the ballot in Louisiana on April 20, 1974, as a constitutional convention referral. This measure proposed two alternatives for the governance of education in Louisiana. The two alternatives were very similar in many respects. The major difference between them was in the manner of governing higher education in the state. Alternative A proposed that five boards be created to govern the various campuses in the state. Alternative B proposed only two boards. Alternative A was chosen.[1][2]
