The Louisiana Homestead Assessment for Seniors, Amendment 8 was on the ballot in Louisiana on October 3, 1998, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment allowed property tax assessment levels to be frozen when owners turn 65 years old, except for those with a yearly income of more than $50,000.[1]
