To put a legislatively referred constitutional amendment before voters, a two-thirds (66.67%) vote is required in both the Louisiana State Senate and the Louisiana House of Representatives.
This amendment was introduced as House Bill 370 (HB 370) on April 1, 2021. On May 19, 2021, the House passed HB 370 in a vote of 78-19, with eight members absent. The amendment was not passed in the Senate before the legislature adjourned its 2021 legislative session on July 10, 2021.[1]
