Loyal Edwin Knappen
Loyal Edwin Knappen (1854-1930) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan.

Judicial career
Sixth Circuit
Knappen was nominated to the Sixth Circuit by President William Howard Taft on January 17, 1910 to a seat vacated by Horace Harmon Lurton. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 31, 1910, and received commission that same day. On April 15, 1924, he assumed senior status. He served until his death on May 14, 1930.[1]
Western District of Michigan
Knappen was nominated to the Western District of Michigan by President Theodore Roosevelt on December 3, 1906 to a seat vacated by George Wanty. He was confirmed by the Senate on December 10, 1906, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until February 8, 1910.[1] Knappen was succeeded in this position by Arthur Carter Denison.
