Tennessee: Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey nominated Murfreesboro attorney Gilbert Wayne "Bert" McCarter II to the Tennessee Judicial Nominating Commission. McCarter has served as a law clerk for Judge Don R. Ash, and formed his own law firm McCarter, Catron, & East PLLC. in July 2009. The 17 member commission, created in 2009 by Ramsey's reforms to the judicial selection process, is responsible for nominating candidates to fill court vacancies. 8 members of the commission are appointed by the senate, eight by the house and one is jointly filed by both houses.[1]
