LuAnn Adams
LuAnn Adams was the seventh Utah Commissioner of Agriculture and Food. She was appointed to the position on December 20, 2013, by Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert (R) and took office in 2014.[1] Adams retired on April 16, 2019.[2]
Adams was the first woman appointed to be Utah's agriculture commissioner.[3]
Biography
Prior to her appointment as commissioner, Adams served as Box Elder County Commissioner, a position she held from 2011-2013. In that position, she led the charge to keep the Sage Grouse off of the federal Threatened and Endangered Species List. Before serving as the Box Elder County Commissioner, she was elected Box Elder County Recorder and Clerk, serving in that position for sixteen years.[1]
Outside of her work in public service, Adams has also served on a number of state boards, including the Utah Association of Counties Board of Directors, the Utah Recorder’s Association, the USU Advisory Board, and the NACO Agriculture & Rural Affairs Steering Committee. Adams compiled and published a book entitled, "Box Elder County Historical Photo Tour."[4]

Adams served as the Utah Commissioner of Agriculture and Food from January 2014 to April 2019. She was the seventh commissioner since the state adopted a single commissioner structure.[1][2]
