I am a single mother of 3 amazing kids- my eldest graduated in 2020 and my other two children are in elementary school. I am an immigrant born in the former Soviet Union and I am not a native English speaker. As an immigrant, non-Native English speaker, and single mom I also can provide a voice for others in our District that are like me. While my background and story may not be one of a typical school board member, that is exactly why it’s so important that I am running- so that others like me can be represented at the table.

My professional experience as a realtor with my own business, lends itself to me understanding how to run the business of a school district. I understand budgeting, marketing, and am up-to-date on the happenings of our community. I have assisted many families in finding a home in my community because they are as proud of the LPS 53 District as I am!

  • A return to academic excellence: As a mom, I sought out the LPS 53 school district, because of the quality of the schools. However, currently 44% of LPS students are proficient in Math and 44% are proficient in science according to MAP testing. There is no ignoring the negative impact the pandemic had on education. We return to academic excellence by supporting and investing in a school’s most powerful resource- it’s teachers.
  • Promoting Safety in the Schools: Currently, we have 11 security officers and no School Resource Officers (SRO’s), as our final SRO has been recently promoted and is being replaced with a security officer. I strongly believe there should be 1 SRO in each of our 3 high schools and 4 middle schools.
  • Parental Rights: Put simply, parent partnership is key to a child’s success. Student success is dependent on a support system, of teachers and parents working together.
A child’s learning is not limited to the classroom but instead their entire environment. To capitalize on a child’s formative years, there should be a strong partnership between a child’s parents/caregivers and their teacher. This ensures the two are speaking the “same language”. Opportunities for parents to check-in with teachers outside of two conferences a year are so important. An uninformed parent becomes a concerned and isolated parent that cannot effectively support their child at home. I believe for the vast majority of time, this is not due to a teacher not wanting to communicate with parents, but simply the system they're working in doesn’t allow for effective parent follow-up. Our teachers' workload needs to be structured in a way that provides them with an effective communication system for families. II would strive to find what can we take off of teacher’s plates so that there is an opportunity for parents and teachers to partner. This will benefit all involved. For this reason I support the Parent's Bill of Rights.
